Alex Bregman may not be available to play for Boston Red Sox right now, but that didn’t prevent him from trying to inspire an offensive rally Friday night.

It was with his bart, not his bat.

Baseball players are some of the most superstitious athletes in the world, and Bregman illustrated it during a game against New York Yankees on the road.

Red Sox went into the game after losing six of their previous nine games, and they were in a hole after Walker Buehler abandoned seven races in the first two laps of the game.

Bregman tried to gather his teammates by going into the clubhouse and returning to Dugout with a pure shave. He shaved his bart in the middle of the game in the hope that it would be a spark for his team.

Bregman, who has to do with a quad injury that has him on the 10-day IL, seemed to help in some respect. Red Sox came on the board with a home drive from Rookie Marcelo Mayer, who was recently called from Triple-A, and they scored three more races in the sixth lap to make it 8-4.

At the top of the seventh launch, Rafael launched Devers, a Yankees murderer in his Red Sox career, a two-run Homer to cut the lead to 9-6 in favor of the home layer.

Bregman’s quick action to shave his’ stache was not the magic potion needed for a comeback to all the time. Yankee’s closer Devin Williams closes the door of Boston’s comeback hob at the top of the ninth lap to get away with the first win of this weekend series.

Boston should be a team ready for the playoffs in 2025, but injuries and inconsistent games have them five games below .500. They sit fourth in all -while Yankees are five matches ahead of Toronto Blue Jays in first place in the division.

However, Bregman has enjoyed his new home in Boston, where he joined Red Sox this season after nine seasons with Houston Astros.

Bregman cuts .299/.385/.553 with a .938 ops, 11 homers, 17 doubles and 35 RBIs in 51 games this season. But it is not insult that has hurt Red Sox. It’s pitching. Start pitching, to be accurate.
