- Panasonic’s Let’s Note SC weighs under a kilo but still packs a removable battery and gigabit lan port
- Includes a 56WH battery contained by screws that last up to 34.6 hours of idle
- Unusual Round TouchPad Returns, now larger and borrowed from a 14-inch sibling model
Panasonic has introduced Let’s Note SC, a 12.4-inch notebook designed for business users, focusing on portability, long battery life and ease of use.
According to Mynavi (originally reported in Japanese), the device has a 12.4-inch LCD screen with a 3: 2 image ratio and a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels.
The screen opens to 180 degrees without touching the surface below it, helped by a hinge design that keeps it slightly elevated.
Weighs less than a kilo and still has ethernet and HDMI
The chassis has a pressure-resistant bonnet structure and has been tested to meet the MIL standards.
Panasonic emphasizes the durability of the notebook, including resistance to both influence and vibration.
Available in calm gray and black, SC is driven by Intel’s core Ultra Series 2 processors, either Ultra 7 255h or Ultra 5 255U, depending on the configuration.
Panasonic claims that the laptop weighs 919g, although an independently tested device reportedly entered 901g, where he placed SC among the lightest laptops in his class.
The unit includes a 56WH-nightly battery that is now attached with screws rather than the tool-free slide lock used in previous models. While this improves structural integrity, it can make field maintenance less practical.
Battery performance is classified for up to 12.7 hours of video playback and about 34.6 hours of idle time, according to Jeita 3.0 standards. Using the real world, a charge of 50% remained after 90+ minutes of light and a 30-minute video call.
The keyboard retains a Japanese layout but introduces a remarkable change: The Ctrl key is now to the left, after switching positions with the UN key. Users can return to the previous configuration via BIOS settings.
The on / off button, which is now located behind the keyboard, is less prone to unintended presses and also acts as a fingerprint sensor.
SC also includes a round touch plate, larger than in previous models and borrowed from the 14-inch FC line. Although still unconventional, this circular design remains a characteristic of the series.
Connection includes a gigabit ethernet LAN port, a rare inclusion in modern laptops and potentially appealing to those seeking robust mobile workstation capacities.
However, the D-Sub and SD card columns have been removed, reflecting user trends against HDMI and improved data security standards.
Most gates, including USB Type-A, double Thunderbolt 4-compatible USB Type-C, and HDMI, are now located on the left side, which helps reduce cable root when using a mouse.
The starting price is approx. 295,000 yen (about $ 1,880), where general sales are expected to begin on June 20th.
