- A new pixelur function has been viewed
- It would automatically lock your phone if your clock was disconnected
- We are not sure when the feature can start
Code that was discovered in the latest Pixel Watch app for Android suggests that there is a new feature on the way to Google Pixel Watch 3 and older models: The ability to get your phone automatically locked itself when it is out of reach of your smartwatch.
This code was found by the team on Android Authority and although it has not been activated yet – and there is no word yet on when it may be – the feature would be a useful security upgrade if you pair a pixelur with an Android smartphone.
The idea is that if someone had to push your phone without you knowing or if you happened to leave your handset without realizing it, you would have the insurance that your phone would automatically lock itself.
According to the newly discovered code, this feature could be called ‘lock on interruption’ or something towards these lines. With a small fine -tuning, a user has managed to make the setting appear in their Pixel Watch app.
This is not something that is currently offered by any other laptop at the moment – including the best Apple Watches – although you can of course lock an Android phone at any time using Find My Device Service from Google.
Without any official notice of this feature, it is difficult to predict when we may see that it was rolling out. Nothing was said on recent Google I/O 2025 conference, but Google tends to roll software updates throughout the year.
Presumably, when the feature goes live for Pixel Watch devices, it can then be pushed out into the code for Wear OS. It would then allow wearables like Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra to take advantage of it.
What you can already do with your pixel watch is to use it to unlock your smartphone: So if the clock is nearby, you don’t have to keep unlocking your phone. This would be a useful extra feature to add to it when it eventually rolls out.
