A report of prisoners in Malir Prison has revealed that 225 prisoners, not 216 as originally reported, escaped on June 3, it came out on Tuesday.
The new prison administration conducted a thorough review and found that nine more prisoners who were not included in the original report had escaped from prison.
The superintendent of the Malir prison, Shahabuddin Siddiqi, wrote to SP for Malir Investigation Department and informed him of the revised flight number.
Siddiqi declared in the letter that he took over the jail on June 4 and began a complete revision in Eid holidays, which led to the identification of the 10 extra missing prisoners.
Currently, 146 prisoners have been refurbished, while 79 are still on the run. A prisoner was listed twice on Escapees’ list.
It has been confirmed that one of the escape, Raza Perez Masi, committed suicide in the Madina colonial area in maripur while another died after being shot after his escape.
Earlier, a jailbreak happened in Malir Prison on June 3 early in the morning when inmates broke through the prison wall and tried to escape, which received a quick and heavy reaction from law enforcement authorities.
The area around the prison has been enclosed as part of an intensified manhunt.
According to initial reports, shots broke out near the prison after the escape attempt.
Police forces, helped by other law enforcement units, mobilized and quickly launched a large -scale search operation to understand refugees.
Police have called on citizens to avoid the area and report any suspicious activity immediately. A formal examination of the security breach is expected when the situation is brought under control.
