Maine State Rep. Laurel Libby became a national figure in the movement to keep trans -athletes out of girls ‘sports in February when she called a Trans athlete to Greely High School, who won a girls’ polehvell competition.

The position resulted in Libby being censored, which she fought right up to the Supreme Court to overthrow. She got her voting rights back by the Supreme Court on May 15.

On Tuesday, the trans athlete that Libby’s post shouted did not show up to compete in Maine Class a Track and Field State Championships, per. More witnesses.

Libby responded to the news in a statement to Pakinomist Digital.

“Yesterday, a biological man who won the girls ‘state championship in February did not choose to participate in girls’ polevel at Maine’s Class B Outdoor Banes State Championship, and a girl won rightly the state championship,” Libby said.

“Our girls ‘options and podium placements should be decided by their hard work and performance, not the whims of others. All Maine girls must have the guarantee of a fair, safe and plan rules of play, which is not the case as long as our laws allow biological men to participate in girls’ sports.”

Pakinomist Digital has reached Greely High School for comment.

Female athletes took all the major medals in Maine’s Girls’ Track and Field Finals events on Tuesday after the competition was delayed from Saturday due to weather.

It marked the end of a contentious course and field season for the state as the Greely High School Trans athlete and another representing the North Yarmouth Academy competed on the basis of political conflict.

Maine’s current laws have resulted in girls throughout the state expressing outrage, as at least two trans athletes have won competitions in the field of railway and field, cross-country skiing and Nordic skiing in recent years.

Presque Isle Student Hailey Himes previously told Pakinomist Digital that she was at the State meeting in February, which Libby posted about where the ugly high school trans -athlete won first place in girls’ polevel.

“I saw this male pole -vaulter standing on the podium, and we were all like looking like we were like ‘we’re pretty sure it’s not a girl. There’s no way it’s a girl,'” said Himes. “It was really condescending, especially for the girls on the podium not in the first place. So it motivated me to fight for them.”

Maine teens fight against state democrats about girls’ sports bills after enduring trans athlete chaos in high school

Himes along with her track and field teammates Cassidy Carlisle, Lucy Cheney and Carrlyn Buck, marched to the state capital of August in early May to meet GOP leaders on the question and the lobbye state laws to adopt bills banning biological men from girls’ sports.

Buck added, “It’s not just about points, it’s also that our teammates will feel discouraged when placed in an event against them because they already know that the result is decided to play against a biological man who is biologically stronger than them so they have no chance.”

As Libby is fighting for a legal battle that included the Supreme Court’s intervention to overturn her distrust, the state’s democratic leadership is fighting a battle against President Donald Trump’s administration on the broader question of trans athlete in girls’ sports.

The US Department of Justice has brought a lawsuit against the state in response to government manager Janet Milles, who openly defies Trump’s “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order.

A federal judge put on a trial on Tuesday, April 1, 2026 for this trial.

Trump’s administration has said that the Maine Department of Education violates the federal title IX Antidiskrimation Act by giving transcend girls the opportunity to participate in girls’ teams.

Meanwhile, Maine’s leaders have refused to agree on a written change to keep biological men out of girls’ sports with reference to Maine Human Rights Act’s protection to gender identity.

ONE Examination of The coalition of the American parents found that out of approx. 600 registered Maine voters, 63% said school sports participation should be based on biological sex, and 66% agreed that it is “only fair to limit women’s sports to biological women.”

The survey also found that 60% of residents would support a ballot limiting participation in Women’s and girls’ sports to Biological Women. This included 64% of the independent and 66% of parents with children under the age of 18.
