- Netflix has defended the streaming service’s first major UI update of 12 years
- Fans have vented their rage over the website -layout’s unnecessary changes
- Netflix claims people calmly prefer the updated version
Netflix has defended the platform’s first major user interface (UI) Redesign of 12 years – and has even demanded that the majority of people prefer it over the old destination page layout.
According to Hollywood Reporter (THR), Netflix has suggested that fans actually prefer the streaming’s new look compared to the old one. As THR’s article reveals, Netflix says its internal data, plus the year -long beta test, it performed prior to the new layout that goes alive, justifies Entertainment Behemoth’s decision to review its services user interface.
Netflix’s claim comes over a month after it revealed the biggest upgrade to its website over a decade. At that time, streaming titanium confirmed that the update’s global rollout would begin in earnest, but said some users would look redesigned before than others.
Less than 24 hours after the UI update’s magnificent disclosure, which took place on May 7, Netflix fans began reporting that their website had been updated -and a number of them were not happy. In fact, frustrated fans to social media to say that Netflix’s “New Designs are sucking” because it made it more difficult to find the type of content they like to stream.

In the weeks since the best streaming service layout was revised, several customers have been switched to the redesigned website. And surprising surprise, several people have sent online to express their rage over what they consider to be unnecessary changes. From Netflix’s own sub -reddit to other social media platforms such as X/Twitter, consumers have turned out at Netflix’s layout renovation.
But now Netflix has suggested that these dissents are just a very vocal minority. While a spokesman for the company admitted that the streaming giant knew it would face some kind of setback over the changes, the UP gives a better experience. “With larger boxes we show more information in front of helping you make a better decision,” they added. “Instead of watching 20 or 30 titles at a time, you now see information with a moment.”
Opinion: Netflix -Users Simply Shouting Into the Void – Again
Comment from R/Netflix
This is not the first time that Netflix fans have criticized decisions made by video-on-demand (VOD) company. Whether it’s the now annual Netflix price rising, angry users threaten to close their accounts over the removal of certain subscription levels, the regular cancellation of fan-favorite shows like RecruitingOr Netflix’s incredibly divisive decision to crack down on office sharing between households, consumers have grown more and more overwhelmed with the most popular streamer around.
But therein lies the problem. Despite the Ire Netflix drawers, when making unpopular decisions, it is still the largest and most used vod platform on the market. By the end of 2024, Netflix reported that it had 301.6 million subscribers. Its closest rivals assumed to be Prime Video and Disney+can only boast about 200 million users and 150.2 million customers. Despite fan frustration over updates such as its layout update, Netflix continues to dominate the streaming landscape.
Netflix no longer publicly reveals how many users it has, so we don’t know if consumers are taking place with their money and canceling their Netflix subscription in the wake of changes made in the service.
With so many new Netflix movies plus new seasons of some of the best Netflix shows around that are set to debut on the platform by the end of 2025, I do not see millions of active users hitting Netflix where it hurts -ie. its merger margins. The only way to get its leaders to sit up and take notice is by closing our accounts in protest of updates like this UI inspection. Until people vote with their wallets, Netflix will continue to do as it will, whether fans like it or not.
Have you closed your Netflix account over its redesign? Do you actually like the revision? Or do you care about the same? Tell me that in the comments below.
