The University of North Carolina Football Master Michael Lombardi is firmly ensuring that reports of Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson’s relationship will not be a distraction.
Hudson closed a question about how the couple met from Tony Dokoupil during Belichick’s interview with “CBS News Sunday Morning” in April, and the interview produced widespread criticism.
“I mean, much of it’s just noise,” Lombardi said during a performance on ESPN Radio’s “Marty & McGee.”

“And for us to be distracted by something that has no meaning that has no relevance at all, it is a complete falsehood as to what people say, or what they write. It is comical. And to me to really even attack someone who says it gives them credibility. Which I do not because it is a completely false tale.”
Lombardi pointed to the success the program has had this season avoiding “noise.”
“And noise out there comes from a direction of people trying to be disturbing in our program. We won’t allow it. We won’t acknowledge it. We move on,” Lombardi said.

“And look, let’s realize it, the proof of pudding. We have a huge recruitment class. We had a huge portal and we will continue to get better every day.”
Lombardi said that when the interview was first sent, there was no need to worry. He said his concern stems from North Carolina’s football plan, not the Belichick-Hudson drama.
“Everyone looked at each other and was as in complete amazement. I mean, so we had no reason to circle the carriages. The reason we had was to focus on what to do, as Bill said in a lot of the interviews – and I don’t want to speak for coach Belichick – but he said, ‘See, Jordon is doing things in his business outside North Carolina Football, not here.’ I mean, it’s just a story that was generated from – basically composed, “Lombardi said.

“I mean, it’s a huge thing, you know you can be a great novelist, some of the people reporting this. So we had no, there’s no need to circle any wagons. Look when we play Clemson, we’ll have to circle wagons. But we play TCU on opening games, we’ll have to circle the wagons. It’s competition.”
