The United Nations:
Pakistan has called on the UN Security Council, which met during emergency session times after Israel’s deadly air strikes against targets in Iran, to stop “this aggression right away” and hold the aggressor responsible.
“This council must deny Israel the free hand and the impunity that it continues to operate contrary to international law and international opinion,” Ambassador Asim IFTIKHAR Ahmad, a permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, told the 15-member council while condemning Tel Aviv’s “unjustified and illegal aggression” against Iran.
“Iran is entitled to self -defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” he said, adding that Israel’s actions in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen “reflect a continued pattern of one -sided militarism.”
During the debate, the members of the council were largely agreed-to-can-be shell and diplomacy are imperative to avoid further burden in a region that already moans under the weight of composed conflict.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi requested the Security Council meeting and said Israel “has now crossed every red line and the international community must not allow these crimes to be punished.
Among those who support the request for the council meeting were Pakistan, China and Russia.
