Rory McIlroy’s dealings with the media pulled a response from golf fluencer Paige Spiranac as the Nordirishman’s persecution of another major title hit a great slope on the US Open.
McIlroy decided to skip his media performances after the first two rounds of the big tournament at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. He told journalists after his third round on Saturday that he had decided to skip the look because of “frustration” with “all.”

He has also had a few brutal moments on the field. But when he raised his eyebrows with his comments, Spiranac came to his defense.
“May be an unpopular statement here, but he doesn’t have to talk to the media if he doesn’t want to. It’s not required,” she wrote on X. “And why should he when everyone always analyzes and criticizes his every movement.
“There is clearly something more that happens, none of us are interested in, so maybe let’s not all pile on.”

McIlroy also reminded journalists that he also jumped journalists after the first round of Masters, and now it was just “to do it a little more often.”

McIlroy won the US Open in 2011. He finished in second place for the past two years at the US Open and in the top 10 in each of the last six years.
