For the first time since last July, New York Yankees has been swept in a series of regular season.

And it came against their most bitter rival.

Boston Red Sox had Yankees’ number this weekend and won all three matches of their rivalry at Fenway Park. The last win came on Sunday afternoon when Brayan Bello continued the trend of dominant starting height to help his Red Sox to a 2-0 win.

Before the series, Yankees was only one of three teams in MLB that had not been swept this year. Their district, the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds are now the only two teams that have managed to least save a game in a series.

It wasn’t necessarily Yankees’ pitching that put them in this hole this weekend, but rather the bats went almost completely silent, including all MVP -front trunner, Aaron judge.

Apart from his game-binding solo home driving in the first game of this series to force extra laps from Garrett Crochet at the top of the ninth lap Friday night, referee was 0-for-11 with nine strikes.

But it wasn’t just the Yankee Captain who couldn’t get bats going. As a team, Yankee’s 15-for-94 (.160) went with 10 walks, three extra-base hits and 27 total strikes, including 11 in Sunday’s series final.

As the 42-28 team knows, it’s not the way to success.

But note the record for the season – Yankees certainly advice for a slump considering their AL EAST leading despite the losses. However, these losses combined with Tampa Bay Rays, which won seven of their last 10 games, only mean that New York has only a 3.5-game lead on top of the division.

Meanwhile, Red Sox starts getting hot at just the right time. They hit two of the game’s best pitchers this season, Carlos Rodon and Max Fried, and the three wins got them back over .500 (37-36). They are now only half a play on the back of the third and last Al Wild Card spot.

Of course, there is a whole other half of the season that still has to be played in this 162-game marathon. But while Red Sox gets hot, Yankees’ bats hope to stabilize the ship in Bronx this week against the visitors Los Angeles Angels and Baltimore Orioles.
