The University of Arkansa’s baseball star Gage Wood just beat the third No-Hitter in the College World Series history and only in 65 years on Monday, beating a record 19 against Murray State to protect his team’s 3-0 win.
Wood joined Jim Ehrler from Texas in 1950 and Jim Wixson of Oklahoma State in 1960 as the only pitchers threw CWS No-Hitters.

The junior had only two three-ball counts when 83 of his 119 seats were strikes.
Wood had offered a perfect game in the eighth lap, but a 2-2 breaking ball hit Dom Decker in his back foot.
“When I hit the guy in the foot, I knew I was turning up,” Wood said after the game.

Still, Wood, a junior right-hander who set the CWS record for strikes in a nine-in-in-game game, celebrated his achievement after the game.
“The only special thing was that I wouldn’t go home. That’s it,” he said. “We’re not going home. We’ll get the game tomorrow night. But it’s pretty cool.”
Wood has gone closer to a beginner to the middle reliever as another time for weekend starts as a junior. He injured his right shoulder and threw a warm -up course in his February 23 -start against Michigan and first returned before April 18 against Texas A&M, a total of 54 days.

When asked what he was doing with the game ball, Wood said, “I gave it to my dad and said Happy Late Dad’s Day.”
Arkansas (49-14) plays another elimination game on Tuesday night against the winner of Monday evening’s game between LSU and UCLA.
