Princess Beatrice talked about the need to build trust and bring people together online during a speech at London Tech Week.
The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson joined Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales for a chat in Olympia, discussing how online communities can help shape better rules and content.
During their speech, Beatrice pointed out how important it is to create space where people can talk and make decisions together.
She also shared her perception that trust is growing when people feel included. “Really what we need is more society online,” the princess said.
“Space for people to come together and discuss and arrive at content decisions and platform rules that feel right to them,” she added.
“That’s also how you build trust among people.”
The two also talked about how AI should support people and not replace them while also touching how AI could help fight false information.
“Fighting Disinformation, Improvement of Knowledge and Expansion of Digital Inclusion Across 300+ Languages,” were the topics of discussion.
The two also shed light on “Sustainable content recycling through technical partnerships and data sets have never been more important in AI’s age.”
