Karachi:
A Rickshaw driver was killed while five including a woman and a child sustained injuries in a shooting event, took place near a restaurant in Surjani town, late Sunday night.
According to police, four armed men riding on two motorcycles opened an arbitrary fire on a rickshaw that killed Rickshaw driver Aleem, 45, on site and wounded Tehmina, 50, Subhan, 30, Nauman, 22, Zaryab, 20, and Zainab, 6. They were rushed into a nearby hospital.
Investigator Sub -Inspector Muhammad Ali Shah declared that the shooting seemed to be a targeted attack as the attackers fired from a distance of about 200 meters from the restaurant. He also noted that the restaurant owner had previously received extortion threats via WhatsApp from a South Africa number that was later traced belonging to a former member of a political party.
CCTV recordings are achieved, but it is not clear because of the distance between the criminals and the camera. Tehmina, one of the wounded, shared with Express Pakinomist that they returned from a wedding in Bilal Colony. On the way, they stopped for cold drinks when the incident took place.
