Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday called for a unified national effort and stronger cooperation between the public and private sectors to transform the maritime sector into a catalyst for inclusive growth and unlock its enormous potential.
The Prime Minister approached the second Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC -2025 and laid out the vision of transforming Pakistan into a regional maritime power center and declaring the “blue economy” as Pakistan’s “new economic border”.
With over 1,000 kilometers of coastline and a position at the intersection of Vital Havbaner, the prime minister said, Pakistan was uniquely positioned to exploit the trillion dollar blue economy globally. “Even tapping a fraction of this economy could be a real game election,” he said.
“Our coastal trade already brings almost $ 7 billion a year and just imagine the potential if we fully develop this sector,” he said. He paid tribute to Pakistan Navy and Maritime Affairs Ministry for their strategic foresight and dedication to managing this important initiative.
In the apartment, Maritime Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry outlined the government’s strategic timetable for the maritime sector. He confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to build a vibrant blue economy and introduced the vision “Maritime by 100”.
He explained that “Maritime at 100” was a long -term plan to grow this sector to a $ 100 billion economic force in 2047. “
Assistant Chief of Fleet Staff Commodore Ahsan Ali Khan emphasized the great financial potential of oceans. He noted that oceans were increasingly tapped for tourism, renewable energy, aquaculture and extraction of valuable resources such as hydrocarbons and minerals.
Meanwhile, talking to the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam during PIMEC-2025, the prime minister discussed the current regional situation, according to the Prime Minister’s office MedieVinge a press release.
Prime Minister Shehbaz repeated Pakistan’s condemnation of recent Israeli aggression against Iran and expressed the country’s sympathy with the brotherly neighbor of the martyrdom of its innocent civilians.
The Prime Minister repeated Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran and its people during this time with increased excitement. He called the Israeli attacks on Iran a complete violation of the UN -Charter and the International Laws.
With reference to his recent telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian said the prime minister that Pakistan supported Iran at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting, the press release added.
