Main Minister Murad Ali Shah said Tuesday that water is life and protecting natural resources is a collective responsibility.

In a message on the occasion of “World Day to combat desertification and drought”, CM SINDH also declared that on June 17 is a day to raise awareness of the factors that transform land into deserts, increase the drought and affect the environment.

He said the provincial government is working on projects such as wooden plantation, rainwater harvesting and modern water management to prevent soil from becoming desert. CM Shah warned that if the water of the Indus River did not reach the sea, our coastal belt could be wiped out.

He emphasized that it is important to maintain the natural flow of the river Indus to keep the Indus Delta alive. The minister said that lower ripar rights are recognized globally in the context of environmental justice.

He added that securing water access to the Indus Delta is a requirement of environmental justice to protect the country, the environment and life.
