Rawalpindi:

Discontent grows among Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers in Rawalpindi over being sidelined under Eidul Azha celebrations, especially in terms of selective meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari.

During a press conference, PPP Rawalpindi Cantonment -President Malik Qasim Idrees, Punjab Council member Banaras Chaudhry, Tauqeer Abbasi, Nasir Mir and Abdul Rehman Tokli expressed strong concerns about what they called a conspiracy to block dedicated workers from meeting president. They specifically accused the president’s spokesman and former MPA Aamir Fida Paracha of creating obstacles and deterring grassroots from accessing leadership.

The party leaders said they were deeply disappointed with the demoralization of loyal male and female party workers and claimed that a conscious conspiracy had kept PPP’s allied organizations from meeting the president. They claimed that the former Baitul Maal Md Aamir Paracha could not communicate the true feelings and complaints from party workers to the management who have harmed the party’s unity.

Criticism was also directed at the repeated nomination of weak candidates in Rawalpindi.
