Tyler Perry is facing serious accusations of harassment from actor Derek Dixon, who in the trial said that the Hollywood mogul used his industry power to sexually attack and harass him while he held him quiet.
The trial filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by actor Derek Dixon, who appeared in the 85 episodes of the bet series, is looking for at least $ 260 million in compensation.
Perry’s lawyer, Matthew Boyd, said its accusations are false.
The troubled details given in the trial suggest that the alleged harassment took place over a long period of time – including the same time, Perry was widely praised to help Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their transition from royal life in Britain to the United States.
At the beginning of 2020, Perry Duke and Duchess of Sussex offered a private Los Angeles home and full security after leaving the UK and was temporarily without a safe haven.
This generosity was highlighted in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s documentary Harry & Meghan, where Perry seems to discuss his decision to support the couple.
Perry said he identified himself with Meghan’s emotional pain and felt compelled to step in when “no one else would help them.”
Based on the dates mentioned in Dixon’s complaint, Perry allegedly became still harassing his former employee during the same period as he was shown in the documentary depicting himself as a protector and ally of the vulnerable.
The contrast between Perry’s public image as a benevolent savior and the private accusations of toxic behavior could place Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a difficult position.
If the claims are proven true, the royal couple would be subjected to pressure to distance themselves or criticize someone who once came to their help.
For Harry and Meghan, the line between gratitude and accountability can soon be tested in the court of public opinion.
