Rubio praises Pakistan’s regional peace efforts in the call for PM Shehbaz

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a phone call from US State Secretary Marco Rubio Friday, with both sides discussing a wide range of regional and global questions in what was described as a heartfelt and friendly atmosphere.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, the prime minister emphasized that the escalating Iran-Israel crisis could only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

He confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to play a constructive role in all peace efforts in the midst of a situation that constitutes serious concerns not only to the region but to the whole world.

PM Shehbaz conveyed his best wishes for US President Donald Trump and praised his brave leadership. He also appreciated Rubio’s active diplomacy, especially his role in facilitating the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India.

When he highlighted Trump’s positive statements about Pakistan, the prime minister called them to encourage steps towards long -term peace in South Asia. He emphasized that sustainable peace could only be achieved through meaningful dialogue between Pakistan and India.

In this context, he repeated Pakistan’s readiness to participate in conversations with India on all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, the Indus Waters Treaty, Trade and Terrorism.

The situation in the Middle East also contained prominent in the discussion. PM Shehbaz reiterated that the only viable solution lies in peaceful dialogue and diplomatic commitment. He confirmed Pakistan’s willingness to play a constructive role in mitigating tension.

In financial affairs, he referred to Trump’s interest in strengthening the bilateral trade and expressed Pakistan’s desire to extend cooperation with the United States in key sectors such as trade, investment, energy, minerals, rare earth elements and information technology.

In the affirmative Pakistan’s decision to eradicate terrorism, the Prime Minister spoke of ongoing efforts to eliminate the threat of extremist groups such as Balochistan Liberation Army (among others), Tehreek-in-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and others.

In response, Rubio Pakistan’s combat of terrorism valued and insured the full support of the United States in this regard.

PM Shehbaz also expressed satisfaction over the result of the recent meeting between Trump and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir in Washington, who described it as both comfortable and productive.

Both sides agreed on the need to translate the recent progress in bilateral dialogue into concrete, practical collaboration across all areas of mutual interest.

PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of maintaining high -level contacts and expanding a renewed invitation to Trump to make an official visit to Pakistan. He expressed eagerness to meet with the US president soon and invited Rubio to visit Pakistan in the near future as well.

Finally, US Secretary of State thanked the Prime Minister for making his call and expressing the united states’ strong desire to elaborate on cooperation with Pakistan across all areas of common interest.

He also acknowledged Pakistan’s continued efforts to preserve the ceasefire with India and play a positive role in promoting peace, especially considering its strong relations with Iran.

Rubio emphasized that the United States remain obliged to work closely with Pakistan to promote both regional and global peace and stability.
