Drone lovers, prepare for the lift-off: the release of the long-rumored DJI Mavic 5 Pro could be imminent, according to a serial leak.
The replacement of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, which we consider as the best in the Ultralight Drone class, will have its official launch on August 7, 2025, if the serial drone blogger Jesper Ellens is to believe. Ellens, who writes at Dronexl, reports that a (reliable) contact has sent him message to share the date. He also says that although he usually prefers to wait for more confirmation before emitting a rumor like this, this source has never been wrong before.
If this is true, the date is only seven weeks away – weeks when we expect additional news and rumors about the DJI Mini 5 Pro, will twist out. We also suspect that we will get more photos of the drone in nature – such as a newly trapped by a Chinese mountain biker who claims he simply encountered a prototype of the drone in a park.
The picture was shared by another serial drone leak, @maurotandoi, and although it is of pretty bad quality, it seems to show a small folded drone with larger front -facing sensors (see below).

This fits well with early rumors of the Mini 5 Pro from last year; Back in December 2024, Jesper Ellens (yes, we said he was a serial leak) claimed it would come with Lidar sensors as well as ventilated engines.
Lidar, which would greatly improve the drone’s obstacle system, especially under low -light modes, has recently begun to appear on Higher End DJI drones such as DJI Air 3S and DJI Mavic 4 Pro, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see it on an upcoming DJI Mini 5 Pro.
Waited engines can meanwhile result in stronger flight performance: higher air velocity, better wind resistance and even longer battery life.
Other upgrades that come?
Lidar and vented engine upgrades alone may well be enough to convince people to upgrade to the Mini 5 Pro from a Mini 4 Pro, but we have also heard speculation about a larger 1-inch sensor to the camera (the Mini 4 Pro has a 1/1.3-inch sensor), which can really make people become excited if the DJI keeps the weight under the all-impedent 250 G-label.
In the UK, the EU and the US, drones of 250 g and over are subject to several rules, regulations and limitations, so ultra-right models such as DJI’s mini-range meet an important role-provided that they keep their overall starting weight under this figure.
