Four people were killed and four others were wounded in a road bomb -explosion Wednesday in the Sharamkhel area of Pewar, Parachinar, in the Upper Kurram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), police said.
District Police Officer (DPO) Malik Habib confirmed injuries and said a police team had launched a study on the site of the explosion.
The deceased was identified by officials of the Parachinar District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital such as Nawab Ali, Amir Hussain, Hidayat Hussain and Manzar Ali.
Medical Superintendent Mir Hassan Jan said the wounded – Muhammad Konain, Shafaat Hussain and Hassan Ghulam – received first aid from DHQ Parachinar and later switched to Peshawar for specialized treatment.
Two horses were also killed in the explosion. The blasting took place when the victims along with their horses were heading towards a nearby hill to collect firewood, according to Ghulam, one of the wounded.

DPO Habib said the police team has launched an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, further vice -commissioner of Kurram Amir Nawaz visited the wounded to ask about their condition.
The oldest of the tribe strongly condemned the incident and called for immediate arrests and a high -level study. “Such actions are aimed at sabotaging peace efforts in the region,” said an elderly.
Violence in the tribal belt has increased in recent months. In December, more than 100 people were killed during tribal races in Kurram.
The region was cut off for weeks after attacks on convoys.
