Pair dies, the child survives in road accident

Kaghan Valley:

A traffic accident claimed the lives of a couple from Attock on Tuesday, while their young child miraculously survived with injuries in the scenic Kaghan -Dal. According to police, the family’s vehicle slipped a mountainous road and threw hundreds of meters into a deep gorge.

The incident took place near a sharp curve where the vehicle lost control and fell into a fast flowing current below. Rescue 1122 and local volunteers conducted a challenging operation to pick up the bodies.

The wounded child was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as deeply worrying and left both tourists and local shaken. This is the latest in a series of accidents that have destroyed the ongoing tourist season in Kaghan and Naran Valleys.

Earlier this year, three people-inclusive died a child-in a similar crash near Batakundi, while another incident near Jalkhad left several tourists wounded as a car overturned on a smooth road due to overpower.

Despite security measures such as increased patrolling, warning signs and attention campaigns, road accidents in the region continue to rise. The KDA and the district administration have once again encouraged tourists to run cautiously, especially on steep slopes and blind turns and called for stricter enforcement of road safety protocols.
