Four operators who allegedly worked for India’s research and analysis wing (RAW) were arrested from Karachi under a Raid in Malir’s Quaidabad area on Wednesday.
The arrested persons are accused of spying on military and China-Pakistan economic corridor sites, intelligence agencies and the special investigative unit (SIU) said for police.
They were identified as Muhammad Khan Bariyo alias Guloo, Akhtar, Jameen Mullah alias Jaman and Ghulam Qadir alias Akash.
Siu Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shoaib Memon said the most important suspect, Muhammad Khan, resident of Sujawal district, had been in contact with RAW and a particular Colonel Ranjeet from the Indian Border Safety Force Camp No. 59 since 2009.
The arrested suspects would travel there and provide sensitive information, including photos of key installations, details of implemented staff and Pakinomist-labeled places, he added.

SSP emphasized the seriousness of the situation in the context of India’s ruling hostile attitude and said that sharing such information is a direct aggression against Pakistan. The suspects’ cell phones were also checked, he added.
Authorities found the Indian colonel number on their phones and found that he was referred to as “boss” in their communication. In addition, Pakinomist-tagging software was found on the confiscated phones and WhatsApp was used to send images and placements of important installations.
A very sensitive document – a training guide from the Pakistani army – was also recovered by their possession.
In response to additional queries, SSP Shoaib Memon revealed that the suspects provided detailed intelligence, including locations and troop installations of military and CPEC-related installations in Bin Qasim Town.
They also transferred sensitive information on military and fleet facilities in Sujawal, including shifts, staff rotations and the types of weapons used. He added that it seems that the arrested suspects planned a larger terrorist plot, but it would be too early to say anything at this time as the investigation is still underway.
The retrieved mobile phones have been sent for forensic analysis and further details of certain Indian contacts as well as the shared information.
In addition, explosive materials, including four hand grenades, one Kalashnikov -rifle, another rifle, two guns and photographs of critical installations in addition to other criminal objects, were seized from the suspects at the time of arrest, according to the authorities.
According to SSU, the suspects had crossed the Pakistani border from Sujawal via Sea Route to enter India, where they reported to BSF’s camp # 59. In return for their services, the monetary compensation, Indian spirits and cigarettes received during surgery.
