Islamabad:

The recently inaugurated Jinnah Square Project in the federal capital has come under heavy criticism after a section of the road collapsed during the first monsoon of the season, which vulnerable serious concerns for the build quality.

The road near Serena Chowk threw herself in just a few weeks after the end, causing significant traffic disorder and drawing public anger. The RS4.2 billion project was completed in just 84 days and had been hailed by the government as a model for rapid development.

“This is a cruel joke over the taxpayer. If a multi-billion-peppe road cannot withstand a single rain form, it reflects alarming negligence,” said a commuter on the spot.

The affected section, a loop connecting G-5 to Aabpara, reportedly sank after the rainfall, hindering traffic and raising security concerns. Construction experts have required an independent study of the project’s structural integrity.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) team began urgent repairs shortly after the collapse. However, both engineers and citizens have expressed serious doubts about the quality and supervision of the construction.

The public is now calling on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the CDA chairman to start an investigation and hold those responsible for any negligence or malpractice responsible.
