- The blue signature cleaning looks like a footstick and acts as a side table
- Different adaptation options including colored covers and feet
- It comes with Auto, ‘AirSense’ and night states
BlueAir has just launched the best -looking air purifier I’ve seen, and it has left me to wonder exactly why so many other models look so ugly. Even within our own best air purification ranking you will find more than a clinical, white plastic device – certainly not an aesthetic you would find in many people’s living rooms or bedrooms.
In contrast, the new blue signature resembles a piece of furniture, which is especially appropriate, which can also be doubled as a – the top can be used as a table. (Those who are aware of IKEA Starkvind-Table-Cum-Air-Purifier must be assured that this is a completely more successful merger, visually).
By default, the blue signature comes with a light gray or dark blue gray cover, but you can pay extra to lock a number of other color settings (including beige, taupe and dark green). You can also choose to add a metal ring base or stubby feet, the latter of which really reinforces the foot stool vibes.
I wrote ‘Cover’ just then, but what I really thought was ‘pre-filter’ because this wrapping is the first defense line against particles in the air. It is machine washing, to keep it hygienic and function effectively.
The brand is fond of this approach – BlueAir Blue Pure 411i Max and BlueAir Blue Pure Mini Max also have removable, washable covers available in different colors. It’s a simple solution, but I’m a big fan; It causes BlueAir cleaners to mix far more seamlessly into a home environment filled with other soft furnishings.
Time to freshen up
What about functionality? BlueAir Blue Signature also looks strong there. There is a fairly overwhelming seven-stage filter setup that starts with the washable pre-filter, and including an electrostatically charged particle filter and carbon to absorb gases and odors. BlueAir has added ‘Odorfence’ a ‘Patent-Pending, Bio-Based Technology’ designed to break down gases and remove smells more effectively.
My only little concern is that the blue signature, like all BlueAir’s cleaners, uses a ‘hepasilent’ filter, rather than true HEPA (the brand insists it is more effective than a HEPA filter, and works quieter).

The interface of the cleaner itself has been redesigned, so it counts the time to where your air will be clean. It looks like a touch screen that I assumed could cause problems with the whole ‘doubling like a table’ thing, but you can lock the display via the companion app so you don’t end up changing your settings every time you go to put your coffee down.

You can set fan speeds manually, but BlueAir has also included three special conditions. In Auto mode, the cleaner monitors the air quality and responds to keep the air clean. More unusual is AirSense mode, where the cleaner automatically turns on at intervals throughout the day, even without a decrease in air quality, to keep the air feeling fresh. Finally, there is a night mode that dims the LEDs and falls to the lowest fan speed.
BlueAir Blue Signature can be purchased in the US now. If you go to BlueAir.com, prices start at $ 449.99, but on Amazon there is a limited time discount to make it a little more affordable. It is not yet out in England, but must be sold in August. We do not have price information yet, but if it is in line with us pricing, it may be around £ 330. We have just started testing it out and getting a full review live along with the British launch.
