Flash flooding triggered by heavy rain in SWAT has claimed the lives of at least 11 people, more of which are still missing.
The continuous rainfall in the last two days has caused a significant increase in the flow of the SWAT River, causing local authorities to issue a high alarm.
The rescue teams have so far recovered two bodies, and search operations continue in several places, including Fiza Gat, Bypass, Manyar and Khwazakhela. At the Fiza Gat location, 10 tourists, including women and children, were swept away by the flood water and two bodies have been recovered.
At the bypass location, 17 people with four bodies drowned and three others saved alive.
In addition, the heavy rain got that a house should collapse in Khwazakhela, resulting in the tragic death of a 7-year-old girl, Zuneina.
Rescue operations in other flooded areas such as Ghaligai, Manyar and Panjigram have also been running, with more people saved from the rising flood water.
Meanwhile in Marran, 22 individuals were caught in Imam Dheri by the flash floods, but have since been saved safely.
Additional rescue operations are ongoing in different parts of SWAT, including Mettah, where 20 to 30 people were stranded due to the floods. All of them were probably evacuated.
Authorities continue to advise residents near the Swat River to evacuate as the water level remains dangerously high.
Despite the rapidly moving waters, the rescue teams remain dedicated to finding and helping those affected by the devastating floods.
