New York Liberty player Natasha Cloud has made her support for the radical Socialist Zohran Mamdani in the city’s mayoral very clear in recent days.
Cloud, who has been one of Wnba’s more free -speaking players in discussing politics in recent years, celebrated Mamdani’s victory in the democratic primary Wednesday in a series of social media posts.
Cloud sent an X-post containing one of Mamdani’s regularly used quotes, “We can be free and we can be fed,” labeling the candidate. Earlier that night, Cloud re-divided Mamdani’s festive posts.

On June 18, Cloud again shared a video from Mamdani that approached his reaction to being called an anti -Semitis, and the same day Cloud wrote his own post and expressed his support for the self -proclaimed democratic socialist.
“If I were not resident in Pa, [Mamdani] is who would receive my voice, ”the cloud wrote.
In an interview with the sports blogging site “Clutchpoints”, Cloud said that Mamdani’s victory in the primary restore her “Hope in Humanity.”
“He gets the worst PR because he is a Muslim, he is a socialist and he is a Democrat. But he thinks it is the government’s right to take care of and make sure all its voters live a dignified life, no matter who you are, what your religious attachment or background is. I think it’s beautiful,” Cloud said.
“I generally think it’s the right choice. But why it is so empowering to me is that it restored my hope in humanity a little. Even within the framework of what is happening right now in our government and in our country, the people will speak up. The people will emerge. And there is a lot of humanity left in this world for us to care for each other.”
Cloud has emerged as one of the most polarizing characters in WNBA for comments about President Donald Trump.

She apparently responded to US military strikes At important Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday night wrote on X, “A sad sad day” and “Reason for forgery.”
She later wrote, “I pi — D all tumplicans off again, it’s okay to admit that you were wrong. [And] I also feel as if it is only right that you first signed up for the front lines. Not other people’s sons and daughters. “
In February, Cloud replied to President Donald Trumps Decision to eliminate several government’s DEI programs.
“The power systems work as they were always intended to work,” Cloud told Associated Press. “And it’s time to break down a system that has only been about white men.”
Cloud added that she thinks the country is putting “money over people.”
“I understand the business aspect and I understand the human aspect,” Cloud said. “Too often, this country has put aside the human aspect and set aside profits and money over people.”
Cloud doubled on her remarks in a social media after days later.
“Things are that I’m not soft, & words don’t hurt me lol are we 5? It still remains people over profit,” she wrote on X. “If you really about being impartial … Google Search any overseas media coverage of what’s happening in America.
“Then come back to me and tell me the whole world crazy.”
Cloud has also received controversy for comments and interactions with WNBA Phenom Caitlin Clark.
During an interview about “Pivot Podcast” with Ryan Clark, Cloud weighed on the debate that shook WNBA last year when several illegal hits against Clark got the outrage from many of her fans.

“It’s just part of the game. There was no targeting, there was nothing. The tale that was spun to, ‘Oh, the veterinarians hate rookies. Rookies hate the veterinarians. The veterinarians go for certain players,’ It’s all bulls —. If I just want to be Frank, it’s all bull-what it is is racism, ‘said Cloud.
Then, in a game between Cloud’s Liberty and Clark’s Indiana fever on May 24, the Cloud Clark defended and leaned into the superstar enough to knock the ball out of Clark’s hands on the last possession. No mistake was called and Cloud’s Liberty held on to a two-point victory.
