Islamabad:
Action by the US ambassador to Pakistan Natalie Baker met on Friday with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss questions of mutual interest, including regional security, terrorism and improved bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Baker confirmed the importance of the US -Pakistan relationship and said, “Pakistan is a valued partner in the United States. We attach great importance to our relationship and look forward to further strengthening our cooperation across several sectors.”
The meeting highlighted both of the countries’ common obligation to promote peace and stability in the region through sustained dialogue and cooperation efforts.
During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on various topics of shared interest, including terrorism, anti-narcotics collaboration and growing security concerns throughout the region.
The dialogue emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration to tackle developing transnational challenges.
A central highlight of the meeting was the recent commitment between Pakistan’s chief of staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir and US President Donald Trump. Both Naqvi and Baker then the meeting as a constructive step towards the elaboration of strategic ties between Islamabad and Washington.
Naqvi paid tribute to President Trump’s leadership in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and describing his efforts as “extraordinary and sincere”.
“President Trump’s impressive role in the mediation of peace between Iran and Israel, following his previous contribution to the Pakistan-India ceasefire, will always be remembered,” the Minister of the Interior noted. “We hope President Trump will also succeed in creating a ceasefire in Gaza,” he added.
“Pakistan appreciates a lot every step taken to the promotion of peace. We have always believed in solving disputes, including the Kashmir question, through dialogue and diplomacy.”
Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker praised Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at stabilizing the region.
