Islamabad: A mild earthquake hit the central Pakistan on Sunday morning when the united states of geological Survey said it was the order of 5.3 shaking in Richter scale.
However, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that the size of the earthquake was 5.5.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the low earthquake that the USGS reported had happened around 10 p.m. 03:30 (2230 GMT), with episent about 60 kilometers (37 miles) north-northeast of Barkhan, a city in Pakistan’s mountainous Balochistan Province.
However, Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that the episent was located 149 km (92.5 miles) west of the city of Multan. GFZ said the shaking was low, at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles).
Meanwhile, shakes were also felt in the musakhel and nearby areas after a moderate earthquake hit the region.
According to the Seismic Monitoring Center, the earthquake had a size of 5.5 and occurred at a depth of 28 kilometers. The epicenter was located about 56 kilometers northeast of the Musakhel district in Balochistan.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or injuries. Authorities monitor the situation.
Pakistan lies along the border between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, making it prone to earthquakes.
The region can be difficult to reach in emergencies-in 2015 killed an earthquake of 7.5 in Pakistan and Afghanistan nearly 400 people over the harsh terrain that prevented relief efforts.
The country also experienced a devastating earthquake of 7.6 sizes in 2005 that killed more than 73,000 people and left about 3.5 million homeless people, mainly in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
Balochistan Province, Pakistan’s largest, was hit by an earthquake in 2021 that killed at least 20 people and wounded more than 10 others, with landslides slowing early rescue operations in the remote mountainous district of Harnai.
