India quietly lifted the digital ban on reports of some Pakistani celebrities and entertainment platforms-which were blocked after the Pahaldam attack in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which took at least 26 civilian lives, leading to full conflict between the two nuclear armed neighbors.
Some online users reported renewed access to previously blocked social media accounts including Instagram and YouTube channels.
The available accounts now included in popular Pakistani stars – including Yumna Zaidi, Dananeer Mobeen, Ahad Raza Mir, Azaan Sami Khan, Mawra Hocane, Ameer Gilani and Danish Taimoor.
Indian X users highlighted this development and said YouTube stories about three major Pakistani entertainment channels have also been restored.
However, the accounts of some major celebrities remained inaccessible, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam
There had been no official statement from the Indian government about the ban that was abolished – or whether it is just a mistake in Instagram algorithms.
On this development, some fans in India speculated why the government lifted the ban for some while still holding it on other celebrities.
Other fans claimed that the government has lifted the ban for just ‘B-LIST’ stars from Pakistan, so it doesn’t matter.
Celebrities of Pakistan condemned Indian attacks in six places in Pakistan on May 7 – all targets hit were civilians, most of which were mosques – with Indian ammunition that also causes damage to the surrounding housing structures.
The targeted places included Kotli, Bahawalpur, Murideke, Bagh and Muzaffarabad.
Other celebrities – who condemned the attack – included actors Fahad Mustafa, Hina Altaf, Hina Khwaja Bayat, Minal Khan and Ushna Shah among others.
