- Nintendo Switch 2 users report overheating problems in handheld and docked modes
- It comes in the middle of Nintendo’s recent controversy around its new Switch 2 -Unit
- It is reportedly even when playing less demanding games
It’s no secret that Nintendo has been at the center of controversy since the announcement of $ 80 game prices along with the recent finds about its new Switch 2 display and its ghost problems. However, the handheld problems apparently do not stop there.
As highlighted by NotebookCheck, several users report overheating problems with Nintendo Switch 2, even when playing less demanding games. In particular, most reports suggest that overheating occurs when using Switch 2’s Dock, an important component that allows users to play on external screens and provide more power for improved performance.
An abundance of Redditors has expressed frustrations with Switch 2 Dock’s lack of ventilation despite having a built -in fan. The latter is not designed to cool Switch 2, but rather dock.
Others also point out higher temperatures while using their Ethernet port, to the point where the handheld and its accessories are too hot to touch and the display exit ends despite the console still running.
Nintendo suggests that putting the console aside aside to cool down and ensure that the handheld air openings are not hindered – but frankly it is hardly much of a solution to eliminate the suspected overheating.

It’s not just the dock alone; Users also report that the device shows a warning message before entering hibernation when developed. This seems to be the system’s way of throttle, but instead of it doesn’t make it playable while it rests.
This is a worrying sign for Switch 2 owners. If these problems become more widespread, it would certainly replace the concerns of the display quality.
Analysis: Hopefully this is not a bigger problem than I think …
It is not uncommon to hear reports of overheating with new hardware. I have become quite used to it with new GPU launches and (more relevant) the early reports of SD cards overheated in the ASUS ROG Ally.
Since this is a similar problem, it looks like Nintendo may be able to address it with a software update, similar to what Asus did. However, there is no guarantee that this will lead to a decision. It also comes at a bad time for Switch 2 considering its recent controversy.
It is the absolute worst-case scenario for a new handheld console owner, especially for its $ 449.99 / £ 395.99 / AU $ 699.95 Price; It is also worth noting that the original Switch has seen a price increase in some regions, so it is not exactly a good time for these overheating reports to emerge.
If the quay happens to be an injury to Switch 2’s cooling, I doubt that any software update will be able to solve the problem. There is also a lack of compatibility with third -party docks, so if you are facing these temperature problems, there is not much of a solution for now.
Let’s just hope that Nintendo is quick to tackle this before it gets out of hand …
