Earlier this year, Max Homa said he had a “come-to-jesus” moment when he decided to erase X, former Twitter.
PGA star was once active on the app, but he said in March that the platform is now “for the sick.”
“I was sick. I’m just trying to get healthy now,” Homa said at the time.

In front of the John Deere Classic, Homa stuck to his personal boycott of the “horrible, horrible place.”
“The reason for that is just the vitriol you are reading online. It has become a safe haven for people who are, I think, angry with themselves. It’s quite absurd how comfortable people feel to write terrible things,” Homa told journalists Wednesday.
“Twitter or x or whatever is a terrible, terrible place. It took me a while to get hold of how contributing it can be and how much of a waste of energy. I miss the connection with the fans, but nothing comes without so much hatred and anger. There is a lot of love in there too, but unfortunately it is overwhelmed with a really bad.”
Homa suggested that the increase in games, which he said “seems funny like hell in golf”, can contribute to online vitriol.

“People say some bad, bad things on the internet. You get people to tell you you have to die on the internet. It has nothing to do with not connecting. I would very much like to keep connecting with people, but I try to do it personally a little more because I have not met anyone personally who has said something even distant means.
“It’s a safe haven for A-holes, due to lack of a better expression.”
Homa has fought too late. He has missed seven cuts in 16 tournaments this year with only one top 25 finish coming to Masters. It was his first clip since last year’s Open Championship, but since then he’s finished 70th, tied to 30th, tied to 60th, tied to 51. And tied to 54. With another pair of unanswered cuts.

Last year he was ranked 10. In the world. Last month he wore his own bag for 36 holes with us open qualification. He missed the tournament after a heartbreaking three-putt on his last hole, where two putts would have put him in the Oakmont tournament.
