- AMDS RX 9070 XT is probably as low as it becomes with regard to pricing
- Demand for GPUs (and other components) expected to spike later in the year
- On top of the effects of duty, this can mean significant price increases for graphics cards, a YouTube leaks tell us
Now it is perhaps the perfect time to beat and buy one of the AMDS RX 9070 XT graphics cards, given that the price of this GPU has fallen recently and it is likely to rise later in 2025.
It is the theory that was floated by Moore’s law is dead (MLID), a regular leakage on YouTube discussing the RX 9070 XT pricing – and the threatening ghost of the GPU price rises more wide – in the second half of his latest video.
Mid notes that the price tags on the RX 9070 XT have dropped significantly (from nearly $ 900 down to about $ 700) that is getting closer to MSRP (though still not fully there – the recommended price is $ 600). It is also a similar story in other regions, such as the UK, with pricing that has dipped a great deal.
Of course, this is good news for potential buyers, but Mlid reached out to different sources at retailers and revealed the other non-so-good news about these possible price increases.
Mid explains that pricing is dipped right now due to slow summer sales – as expected at this time of year – but that we have probably reached the lowest point. These retail sources indicate that prices may fall more a touch, but they are probably more likely to stabilize at the level they are now.
When we enter the last quarter of 2025, we will apparently see price increases, however, in addition to the normal seasonal (holiday sales) reasons, that is. The latter will still be a factor here, of course, but Mlid claims there will be extra pressure on all PC components – including GPUs – due to companies that are forced to upgrade to Windows 11.
Remember that Windows 10 will reach out of support in October 2025, so this will be a factor in the 4th quarter as organizations depart orders for new hardware and increase demand. Consumers will also play into this requirement to a lesser extent.
The third factor in the game with potential price increases is that in the third quarter of 2025 we are told that the pre-customs warehouses of components are set to run dry. All of this adds a gloomy image to Q4 offerings and demand that spikes the prices of not only RX 9070 XT, but all GPUs and actually many other components.
What if there are agreements and all Trump’s tariffs will disappear later in 2025? Even in this case, because of the nature of shipping electronics and the long transport times associated with cargo ships, we cannot expect any share or pricing relief to be realized by 2025.
Look at
Analysis: The bottom line
Mlid’s bottom line, which is based on all the conversations he has had with sources in retail and distribution, is that we are likely to look at 10% to 30% price increases across different technological products, including GPUs. It is a rather generalized claim, but nonetheless a somewhat worrying – bring some spices with it of course, although the logic behind YouTuber’s thinking makes some sense.
So we get back to the RX 9070 XT-if you look at buying an upper mid-row GPU for 1440p or 4K games, it looks like July is a good time to buy. Also remember that we just discovered that the RX 9070 XT is now almost 10% faster than it was at launch, thanks to improvements, AMD has initiated subsequent versions of its graphics driver.
This means that the RX 9070 XT looks a more tempting view, especially if you are considering that this month can see the cheapest price you get for this excellent AMD GPU. Although yes, the fact that it is still over MSRP can be annoying, I don’t deny it – but 9070 XT is still much cheaper than the rival RTX 5070 TI and a much better value proposition in general.
And when we talk about it (also highly assessed) NVIDIA graphics cards, Mlid notes that retail sources indicate that the RTX 5070 ten also sells better now, and apparently equals 9070 XT with some retailers (although AMD is still ahead of others). Of course, it is still a victory for AMD, which with regard to the overall desktop GPU market share is far behind Nvidia.
Another thought that may occur to you is: What about Black Friday offering for RX 9070 XT later in the year? Given all of this, I would not knock that something convincing is happening there, especially since graphics cards are never one of the strongest areas for price cutting in this sale. However, the impending Prime Day is definitely worth watching.
