- Xbox is canceled Everwild, Perfect Darkand an unannounced game from Zenimax
- Perfect Dark Developer, the initiative, has also been closed
- Release has happened at several studios
Microsoft has once again made significant cuts in his gaming department as Xbox cancels a handful of games, closes a study and performs another round of mass information.
As reported by Bloomberg, the Xbox has closed the studio initiative and canceled subsequently the upcoming Perfectly dark Restart. Rare Everwild is also canceled as well as an unannounced online title from Elder rolls online Develops Zenimax Online Studios.
Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, has said in an E -Mail to Xbox staff that the cuts “reflect a broader effort to adjust priorities and focus resources to create our teams for greater success in a landscape in changing industry.”
To facilitate these adjustments, Xbox has allegedly dismissed staff across a number of its studios. These include Zenimax, Candy Crush Maker King, Call of Duty Support Studios Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, Forza Motorsport Develops Turn 10 Studios and Halo Studios that are responsible for the wider Halo Franchise.
In total, it seems that an uprising 9,000 employees have been affected by the cuts. Back in May 2025, Microsoft also cut an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 employees from its workforce, which means the company has potentially let about 15,000 employees go this year alone – a scary high number.
This is also not the first time Xbox has chosen to close the entire studios. Last year, the company closed Arkane Austin as well as alpha dogs, Roundhouse games and perhaps most controversial tango gameworks. Fortunately Hi-Fi Rush and The evil inside Developer was able to be resumed under the South Korean publisher Krafton, but not every study was lucky.
