Incubator of the Technology Start Idealab has confirmed a bit of a cyberattack where it lost sensitive corporate files.
The organization confirmed the news after a comprehensive study that took almost a year, noticing a data on data violation sent to affected persons that the attack probably took place on October 4, 2024, when cyber criminals gained access to his network and stole sensitive information about current and former employees, current and former support services and their dependents.
We do not know exactly how many people were affected by this attack or what the data is. Idealab just said the striker took people’s names in combination with “variable data”.

Still, the affected persons affected free identity theft -protection services through IDX, which includes 24 months credit and dark web surveillance, a $ 1 million identity fraudulent allowance policy and fully controlled restoration services in identity services.
At the same time, the media reported that a ransomware operation, known as Hunters International, took responsibility for the attack and added the stolen data to its leakage, probably after a failed extortion attempt.
Allegedly, the leaked archive was 262.8 GB in size and contained 137,000 files. Interestingly, earlier today, Hunters International announced that it was resolution, excused for the inconvenience caused and shared decrypt keys for all its victims. It is safe to assume that Idealab is also included on this list.
The motive behind the shutdown remains within the domain of speculation, with multiple security equipment that believed the group simply redirected to hide its traces of law enforcement and cut ties with previously affiliated companies.
Researchers from the recorded Future, Group-IB and many others have pointed out that Hunters International recently launched a parallel operation called World Leaks that does not implement the crypts and just focus on extortion.
