- More support options for Pixel 6A owners have been revealed
- You can get a payment of $ 100 or $ 150 in Google Store -Kredit
- Google has created a site where you can make your claim
The long-lasting Google Pixel 6A battery saga continues, and Google has now provided details of how owners of the 2022 hand king may require up to $ 150 (about £ 110 / AU $ 230) back from the company-money that could be set against a new phone.
If you just get up to speed with this story, Google is rolling a mandatory update to some Pixel 6A phones that may be at risk of overheating. In recent weeks, there have been several reports of these handsets catching fire, which is obviously something that Google does not want to see continued.
The update “Reduces the Battery Capacity and Charging Performance” according to Google and appears as part of Android 16. Only some Pixel 6A phones are affected, however, and at risk of overheating – Google has not provided too many details of this, but you can check if your device will be included via the Google site.
Now 9to5Google has revealed some extra details. Affected Pixel 6A owners get three options: a free battery replacement for their phone, $ 100 (about £ 75 / AU $ 155) Cash, or $ 150 (approx. £ 110 / AU $ 230) in Google Store Credit.
How to claim
The battery replacement option probably means that the battery batters introduced by Android 16 will be removed again – even if you have to do without your phone for a few days while Google takes care of the repair job.
Whatever option you prefer, you can go here to choose it. You must specify your E -Mail address and IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number on your phone to prove your eligibility -you can find your Handset’s IMEI number by going to About phone from settings.
I can’t work through the steps on the Google Website because I don’t have a Pixel 6A IMEI number to use, but the screen shots gripped by 9to5Google shows that payoneer will be used to deliver the cash compensation. If you are outside the US, the numbers are converted at $ 100 or $ 150 to your local currency.
Interestingly, 9to5Google reports that some users have been sent vouchers for $ 125 (about £ 90 / AU $ 190) to put against a Google Pixel 9A (retail price $ 499 / £ 499 / AU $ 849), check your inbox – though these values apparently can’t be used with $ 150 -credit.
