Vehari:
A suspect was killed while two managed to flee in an alleged police meeting between the Crime Control Department (CCD) Vehari and the robbers.
A gun was recovered from the deceased suspect. According to a CCD spokesman, a meeting was taking place near Pakpattan Canal at PUL 16-WB, yesterday as part of the ongoing effective operations against criminal elements.
During the exchange, a robber was killed while his two accomplices managed to escape. CCD spokesman Chaudhry Amjad said the CCD team was on routine patrolling when three robbers suddenly opened an arbitrary fire when he saw the official vehicle near the PUL 16-WB. CCD team returned fire in self-defense.
The exchange of fire lasted for several minutes, resulting in a robber being seriously injured. The team arrested the wounded robber Umar Daraz, but he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
