Islamabad:
The federal government has fulfilled another important condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by publishing the assets of public officials. Now, government officers from Class 17 and above must be required to submit their own and their family’s assets digitally.
With the president’s approval, the law on officials (amendments) has been issued via Gazette notification. The establishment department has also forwarded the announcement to all federal ministries and departments.
A new ยง 15-A has been added to the Act on Officials 1973, which states that the details of government officials’ assets will be published through the Federal Board of Revenue.
Officers are required to reveal their domestic and foreign assets as well as their financial status. The confidentiality of the personal information of any officer is maintained.
Earlier this week, the government introduced new taxes on the public in line with IMF conditions. It has introduced a petroleum climate -support tax with an additional climate fee of RS2.50 per year. Liter of petrol, diesel and parafin.
