The 26th martyr’s anniversary of the Kargil war hero Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, recipient of Nishan-e-Haides, is observed throughout Pakistan today.
Havildar Lalak Jan laid his life in July 1999, while he was fooling his position during the Kargil conflict. Despite maintaining critical injuries, he refused evacuation and continued to reject the enemy’s attack until he embraced martyrdom.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Lalak Jan’s Legacy acts as a lasting source of inspiration for current and future generations of Pakistan-armed forces.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Lalak Jan Shaheed and recognized his courage and selflessness.
The president said the martyr’s victim remains a shining example of determination and will be remembered with golden words in the country’s history.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that Lalak Jan foiled the enemy’s dishonest design without regard to his own life and made the ultimate victim.
He added that the courage of Lalak Jan could not be shaken by the enemy aggression.
The leading confirmed that the victims of Pakistan’s martyrs and their families are a source of national pride, and the whole nation stands firm with the armed forces.
In a joint message, head of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, President Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Head of Fleet Personnel, Head of Air Staff and Armed Forces paid tribute to Lalak Jan Shaheed, recognizing his undeveloped courage, dedication and victim.
