IHC -Questions Messages at PTI’s request for seats

Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas from Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a message to the Election Commission for Pakistan (ECP) and sought a response to a various petition submitted by the PTI parliamentary members on the award of reserved seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer’s lawyer Sultan Muhammad Khan claimed that ECP on July 2nd sent the ECP a review that was wrongly calculated the reserved seats for women. He requested the court to give the PTI parliamentarians about their rightful share of reserved seats in KP.

Justice Minhas asked if the court had been suspended by the court 2024. Attorney Sultan Muhammad Khan replied that it had not been suspended but the case is pending.

He requested the court to suspend the message. However, Justice Minhas noted that the 2024 announcement could not be suspended immediately.

“I will issue a message and let them come and explain; we will review it at that time,” he said. The court later postponed the hearing for an indefinite period. The PTI parliamentarians’ central secretary general, Malik Habib Noor was also present in the courtroom.

The ruling parties got another victory on the legal front on June 28 as a constitutional bench (CB) from the Supreme Court, on which SC’s judgment of July 12, 2024, which had resurrected PTI as a parliamentary party, and allowed it to get reserved seats in legislation.
