Türkiyes Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of the National Defense Yasir Güler arrived on Wednesday to Islamabad for an official visit to Pakistan.
The Turkish delegation was received by additional secretary of West Asia, Ambassador Syed Ali Asad Gillani, upon arrival.
During the visit, the two sides are expected to discuss central bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in the defense industry.
Express TribunE yesterday reported that Turkey’s foreign and defense ministers will visit Islamabad for conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Turkey has maintained strong ties with Pakistan and had expressed support to Islamabad during his military conflict with India in May, an attitude that withdrew criticism from New Delhi.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will express Turkey’s desire to elaborate on the tapes in all areas and offer Ankara’s support to take steps towards regional peace, the source said. Fidan will emphasize that the countries “need to strengthen their cooperation in the defense industry,” the source said.
