Islamabad:
A young man was swept away with his motorcycle in a seasonal stream in the Coral area of Islamabad on Wednesday when heavy monsoon rains abused parts of the country and raised fears of flash flooding.
The youth identified as Mohsin disappeared as he tried to cross the crowded nullah. The rescue effort was still underway late at night when rain -wasted waterways in rawalpindi and other regions increased.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by rain in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in isolated places. The department warned of further rainy weather today (Thursday), which could trigger floods in local streams and landslides in hilly regions.
As a result, there is a risk of flooding parts of Balochistan, including Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Sibi, Loralai, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Panjgur and Turkat.
Landslides triggered by intense rainfall can interfere with traffic in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and GB.
Due to heavy rainfall, low -lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar may have a flood of cities. Citizens are advised to remain cautious.
