- The drive covered St. Moritz to Munich without a single charging stop
- The journey included roads, highways and secondary roads
- Attempt improved the previous record by nearly 100 miles
Lucid now has an official Guinness World Records Trophy to add his cabinet as its Air Grand Touring model just managed to implement just under 749 miles on a single charge while traveling on public roads.
The record -breaking journey started in St. Moritz, Switzerland and ended in Munich, Germany, with the tour that took winding mountain passes, fast highway sections and narrow secondary roads in a true view of the real world.
Lucid is already considered one of the leading figures in electric vehicle efficiency, where the Air Grand Touring boasts an official WLTP (worldwide harmonized light vehicle test procedure) area of 960 km (596 miles), yet it still manages to deliver approx. 831 hp and a top speed of almost 170 mph.
London-based entrepreneur, hypermiltring legend and owner of the world’s strongest bladder, UMIT SABANCI, was behind the wheel of this trial after he previously set a Guinness world record for most countries visited on a single charge in a production battery electric vehicle and crossed nine countries back in 2024.
Lucid put another @GWR -Title for History Books.ogether with @umit_sabanci, we have officially set a new Guinness World Records title for the longest journey with an electric car on a single charge. Lucid claims Sabanci’s endeavor beat the previous record by about 100 miles and added an astonishing 237 miles to the vehicle’s official WLTP series.
This was made possible by some very sensible driving, but also by a smart route choice, where the journey effectively began at the top of the Alps and finishes a good 4,300ft lower in Munich.
Heavy use of regenerative braking would have helped to keep the monster 112kWh batteries brim. Although Lucid is eager to point out that its charging technology can add an impressive 248 miles of range in just 16 minutes from the appropriate fast charging output for those who are not eager to travel almost 750 miles in a hit.
Lucid leads the way in EV efficiency
The US electric vehicle manufacturer obviously used a smart route planning to achieve this record-breaking bang, but nothing should be removed from the company’s dedication to evidence and efficiency.
Lucid is one of the few that constructs and produces most of its driveline components, with a laser focus on creating an aerodynamic vehicle that is as light and effective as possible.
For example, Air Pure was one of the first EVs to boast of an enviable energy efficiency assessment of 5 miles per day. KWh – you’re lucky if you get over 3 miles per day. KWh in most modern electric cars.
However, this technology is currently reserved for the richest in society, with the prices of the air ranging from $ 69,900 to over $ 169,000 in the United States.
The company has stated that it plans to produce a more affordable version of its $ 79,900 (approximately £ 59,000 / AU $ 121,000) Gravity SUV in the near future, which will be based on a new medium -sized platform and will deliver the same kind of range as competitors, but with a much smaller battery.
This will allow it to compete with Tesla as Lucid’s famous effectiveness to a fraction of the current line-up price.
