DHAKA: The Asian Cricket Councils (ACC) annual meeting has come under a cloud of uncertainty after India began lobbying countries to oppose the planned collection in Dhaka, Bangladesh, confirmed sources on Friday.

India’s resistance, reportedly because of the Bangladeshi place, has now evolved into a full -scale effort to prevent the meeting from taking place. Sources said that both the Indian Government and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have launched campaigns behind the scenes that call on the membership matches to skip the session and offer various incentives in exchange.

In a parallel effort, ICC chairman Jay Shah has also begun to lobbye and calls on the membership plates to write letters that oppose the Dhaka meeting and to withhold participation.

According to Insiders, Sri Lanka and now Oman have supported India’s attitude and opposite the meeting held in Dhaka. However, sources added that a majority of ACC members continue to support the event that is going on as planned and has confirmed their support for President Mohsin Naqvi.

The ACC President has convened the meeting on July 24, while member representatives are set to arrive at Dhaka on July 23. Meanwhile, India and Sri Lanka have formally requested that the meeting be postponed or moved to another place, referring to their opposition to Bangladesh as host.

As tension grows, insiders say that the future of the annual session is now hanging in balance.

Last month, it was reported that the highly expected schedule for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be announced in July.

According to a report, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as a strong competitor to host the prestigious tournament because of the standoff between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and BCCI.

Indian media also reported that if the plans go smoothly, the tournament is likely to begin in the second week of September, when September 10 is considered a tentative date of commencement.
