Kansas City Chiefs-Star-Quarterback Patrick Mahomes would not be excited if the NFL were to add an 18-season match to the schedule.
Mahomes, 29, said he will see the best players playing in the biggest games and the addition of another game could add more injuries.
“You’ve seen the amount of injuries that have some kind of stacked up there at the end of the seasons and you want the best players playing in the biggest games,” Mahomes told CNBC.

“If there was a way to get to 18 games, I’m not – I’m not a big fan of it. But if there was a way, I think you had to add some goodbye weeks in there to give more time to guys’ bodies.”
“I think you will have to find a way to have more goodbye -weeks, more time spread,” Mahomes said.
New York Giant’s wide recipient Darius Slayton disagreed with Mahomes when he said a further bye week would not be beneficial.

“I don’t know about two (goodbye weeks), just like getting yourself started after a goodbye is a tough thing,” Slayton said in a performance at “NFL Spotlight With Ari Meirov” in June.
NFL’s data shows that there are several softness injuries after a bye week, according to Ari Meirov.

Part of the reason NFL wants to add an 18th game is because it would slip the Super Bowl to President’s Day Weekly and give fans the opportunity to have the following day off after the big game.
The only time shows whether a potential 18-game plan will include more goodbye weeks.
