Lahore:
Zulficar Ali Bhutto Junior, grandson of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, has announced plans to launch a new political party that has promised to meet what he called “the real needs of the people” in Pakistan, reported Express News.
In a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Saturday, Bhutto Jr. said the time had come to expand his grandfather’s political vision. “After Roti, Kapra Aur MakaanThe people now need electricity, gas and water, ”he said.
The announcement comes only months after Bhutto Jr. confirmed his decision to formally get into politics in March. At that time, he had expressed an intention to begin his political journey through the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Shaheed Bhutto Group – a fraction founded by his father as opposed to the mainstream PPP leadership.
During Saturday’s press conference, Bhutto Jr’s strong criticism equalized by President Asif Ali Zardari, who accused him of co-op with the iconic slogan “Jay Bhutto” To promote corruption rather than maintain the legislative of the Bhutto family. “This slogan was meant to serve the people, not to enable looting in their name,” he noted.
The press event was centered on the issue of forced postponements by farmers, especially in Punjab, where Bhutto JR claimed that corporate drinking initiatives displaced local communities. “Business agriculture is nothing but a rural grip operation targeted at the livelihoods of poor farmers,” he said.
He questioned the silence of parties that once claimed to speak to farmers, including the Pakistani Muslim league-q and others. “Where are these parties now when farmers need them the most?” He asked.
Describing Punjab’s farmers as “the backbone of Pakistan’s economy” warned the son of the slain politician Mir Murtaza Bhutto against what he called the systemic removal of rural areas. “Taking land away from the people who feed this country is unacceptable,” he said. “Business agriculture is not development – it’s removable.”
He suggested a wider mobilization and warned that if farmers in Sindh begin to raise their votes, as their colleagues in Punjab have, he would not hesitate to call a long march on Islamabad. While no formal timeline was announced for the party’s launch, Bhutto Jr said that consultations with grassroots movements and progressive groups were already underway.
