Karachi: Police investigating the death of model actor Humaira Asghar have recovered data from her electronic devices as the probe continues to gather pace, officials said on Saturday night.
She was found dead on July 8 in an apartment in the defense phase VI’s ITTHAD commercial area, where she had lived alone for seven years.
Her body was discovered when a court -decorated bailiff arrived to enforce a postponement order over unpaid rent after a case filed by the owner of the apartment.
In a breakthrough pointing to new leads, investigators have access to her three mobile phones, a tablet and a laptop, says officials who are familiar with the case.
They said the passwords for the devices were written in a personal diary found in the space where the actor’s decomposing body was discovered so they could unlock and restore the data.
Two people have so far registered their statements, while two others have been called in to question, officials said.
Police added that the actress regularly visited a fitness center and a cosmetologist.
Her gymnastics coach and others from her close circle will also be contacted to help share her last days, according to investigators.
Humaira’s bank accounts, transactions and communication registers have also been reviewed, the authorities said, noting that her contact list was small, suggesting a densely composed circle.
Officials also said that no evidence was found that suggested that bad play was found in Humaira Asghar’s apartment, while the exact cause of death would be clear when the successor and the chemical investigative reports were available.
A case will be registered when the reports are received, they confirmed.
On July 10, the Sindh Police Deputy Deputy Deputy (you) South, Asad Raza, had said the model’s body is probably six months old.
“The expiry date of food and drink found in the apartment is 2024, and the last messages in the actor’s telephone registers are also from October 2024,” had you said, based on the police surgeon’s finding that the actor’s body was in an “advanced phase of degradation”.
Humaira shot for fame with her performance on the reality show Tamasha Ghar And later she cemented her place in the limelight through her role in the film Jalaibee.
Her death comes less than three weeks after the famous veteran actress Ayesha Khan was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s Gullhan-e-Iqbal area.
The adoption of 84-year-old Ayesha emerged after neighbors warned her family of an evil smell coming from her apartment.
