Larry Lamb has officially called time on his acting career with the end of BBC Sitcom Gavin and Stacey.
The last episode ever of Gavin and Stacey shipped in 2024 as a Christmas special which was also BBC Sitcom’s return to screens 14 years after the show’s original finale.
“You become so involved in these characters that they become your favorite at the time they are the focus of your life,” the actor told Daily Mail.
“But to end in my 70s playing a character like Mick, loved by millions of people, you have to give the authors credit … At this point in my career, Mick is the closest to my heart.”
The Eastenders Alum, 76, also took a trip down the memory track as he confirmed his retirement from acting.
“I’ve had a very lucky career; I’ve done so much that I’m really proud that maybe not so many people know,” he reflected.
“I’ve worked at Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theater, I’ve been in 12 West End -Shows I’ve done all the most important fringe theaters in London, on Broadway, I’ve been very lucky, and now I’m quite happy to let someone else play the big roles.”
He concluded, “I think it’s a reward, it’s better to be known than unknown to me. Especially if you’re known as a character that people really love … what a way of ending your working life.”
