Pakistani pilgrims no longer traveling individually to Iraq from next year

In a significant diplomatic development, the interior ministers in Pakistan, Iran and Iraq in Tehran convened a milestone trilateral conference aimed at strengthening relief for religious pilgrims traveling between the three countries.

The conference ended with a unanimous agreement to take all sorts of steps to support pilgrims visiting holy places in Iran and Iraq.

A joint working group will be set up to oversee coordination and operational affairs, which ensures safe and trouble -free journey for millions of pilgrims, especially during larger religious events such as the arbae.

By tacking the conference, Interior Minister Mohsin naqvi expressed gratitude to Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni for organizing the summit at Pakistan’s request.

He emphasized the importance of pilgrims and highlighted Pakistan’s obligation to improve their experience.

Naqvi announced major political reforms, including a new regulation, with effect from 1 January 2026, when Pakistani Pilgrims will no longer be allowed to travel to Iraq individually.

Instead, they must be supervised by registered group organizers who are also responsible for their return. Only the special visas of the Iraqi Embassy will be exempt from this requirement.

“The new group -based travel system is aiming to limit illegal items and extended stays,” Naqvi said, adding that Iraq and Iran have fully approved the new framework.

He praised the governments of both Iraq and Iran for their exemplary leadership of millions of pilgrims annually and confirmed Pakistan’s full cooperation in pilgrim -related questions.

Security Czar also expanded congratulations to Iran with its recent military victory and praises the leadership of supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei and repeated Pakistan’s solidarity during the conflict.

“Pakistan opened the attack on Iran openly and fully supported his right to self -defense,” he said.

Dignitarian who attended the conference included Iranian Deputy Staff Interior Minister Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, senior adviser Nader Yar Ahmadi, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan Amiri Moghaddam, Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Pakistan’s Interior Reague Khurram Agha and Senior -Medmen from Iraq’s Mudassir -tipu, Pakistan’s domestic secretary Khurram Agha and senior officials from IRAQ’s minister.
