Islamabad/Peshawar:
In a procedural step ahead of the election on July 21, the Election Commission in Pakistan (ECP) has written to the Justice Secretary of Peshawar High Court (PHC) requesting an officer in accordance with Article 255 (2) of the Constitution. 2.
The step aims to facilitate the heavy ring of members elected to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s reserved seats before election day.
The letter emphasizes that both the Senate elections and the Edning were constitutional requirements, which called on the formalities to be completed before the vote to be completed in time.
After judicial intervention, reserved seats in the KP assembly were redistributed among political parties, including PTI, PML-N, JUI-F, ANP and PPP, which created a bottleneck, as elected candidates were unable to assume their offices because of the absence of a resolute.
The ECP’s direct appeal to PHC is aimed at removing the procedural roadblock.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Law Department has formally submitted a summary to chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur and requested an assembly session.
