New -Connections Today (Play #767) – The answers

A work colleague recently mentioned that they really did not like the phrase “no worries”, so I made an effort to stop saying it.
I found it incredibly hard and realized that I say it pretty much every time someone says thank you. I struggled to find a decent alternative – “my pleasure” makes it sound too much like I enjoyed what it was a little too much, “no sweat” made it look like it was too easy, and “not a problem” sounds like that was A problem. I fought over it for a few days and decided it wasn’t worth worrying about.
Still, back to the puzzle. This was my ideal type of connections, almost difficult enough to be satisfactory, but not too difficult for it to become time consuming.
I was very happy to get the purple group – ended with fish – but it came after my one mistake in the round when I got panic after seeing no links in the eight words I had left at the time.
Then I remembered to do what we always had to do when the words seem too random and look at the end of each one. Sweet joy and relief followed.

What are new connections?
New Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four objects that share something in common, and each group has another level of difficulty: green is light, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you do not have to technically solve the last one, as you can answer one by an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four errors, giving you a little bit of breathing room.
However, it is a little more involved than something like Wordle, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to get up with tricks. For example, be careful on gay and other word games that can hide the answers.
It can be played free of charge via the new Games website on desktop or mobile.
